I’m a photographer based in Central Scotland, where I live with my beautiful little family. When I’m not taking pictures, you’ll usually find me hillwalking, reading or paddleboarding, most likely with a camera close by.

During the nine to five, I’m a teacher of young people with complex additional support needs. This role has shaped so much of who I am, teaching me patience, creativity and the importance of building positive, trusting relationships. All of this comes so naturally into my photography and the way I work with people.

My love for taking photographs began while travelling for dance. I found myself drawn to capturing the quiet, in between moments just as much as the big milestones, and those images are still some of my most treasured. Over time, that love has grown into something I’m deeply passionate about.

I chose to pursue photography more seriously after experiencing weddings, engagement shoots and studio sessions as a bride, bridesmaid, guest and client, and later through becoming a mum. Motherhood deepened my appreciation for just how precious these moments are and how quickly they pass. Seeing photography from every side, both before and after becoming a parent, has shaped the way I work today, with care, empathy and a real understanding of how it feels to be in front of the camera. That journey has been the driving force behind Lauren Thomson Photography.
