Lauren thomson photography
Hello, I'm LAUREN
TEACHER PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m a photographer based in Central Scotland, where I live with my beautiful little family. When I’m not taking pictures, you’ll usually find me hillwalking, reading or paddleboarding, most likely with a camera close by.
Alongside photography, I’m a teacher of young people with complex additional support needs. This role has shaped so much of who I am, teaching me patience, creativity and the importance of building positive, trusting relationships. These are qualities that naturally come into my photography and the way I work with people.
My love for photography began while travelling for dance, capturing the people, places and moments along the way. I’ve always been drawn to the little moments that tell a story. Through my work as a teacher, photographing school events and more traditional school photos, that love continued to grow.
I chose to pursue photography more seriously after experiencing weddings, engagement shoots and studio sessions from every side, as a bride, bridesmaid and guest, and later through becoming a mum. Motherhood deepened my appreciation for how quickly these moments pass and how meaningful it is to have them captured. All of these experiences have shaped the way I work today, with care, empathy and a real understanding of what it feels like to be in front of the lens. That’s the heart behind Lauren Thomson Photography.
If you’re looking for someone who will help you feel relaxed, enjoy the process and capture the moments that matter most, I’d love to chat.
